Why do we have an Acknowledgement of Country

Everything we do as an organisation is rooted in our own kinship with the land. A key to our kinship is also respecting and honouring the kinship First Nations people have with Country.

Why do we have an Acknowledgement of Country

From the beginning of Biotao's establishment in lands that connect the heart of the N.S.W. Border Ranges National Park. The Country of the Githbul people has been the spiritual home for Biotao. Their soil, waters and spirits seeded and nourished its ethos and its people.

The Githabul Country was our first and enduring teacher, a mentor and kinship that is passed through everything we do.

To honour and pay our respects to the elders of the country we now find as home and we journey through is honouring our spiritual home.

Acknowledgement of Country
We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the land and waters of Yuggera Country clans, we acknowledge and honour your continued custodianship of the land and water of Tulmur where we find our home.

Ending the exclusion.

First nations people have experienced a long history of exclusion and isolation from Australian history records, national symbols, and representation.

This nation's history of dispossession and colonisation is primary to the disparity between First Nations People and other Australians today.

The inclusion of an acknowledgement of First Nations People and Country in events, meetings and communications walks us along the journey of ending the exclusion.
